Liz

Liz

Hi friends! My name is Liz and I'm a junior pursuing a Journalism major with a double minor in Photography and Design. First and foremost, I'm a long-time Swiftie and love all things Taylor Swift-related (my favorite albums are Folklore, Midnights, and Red.) Other interests that occupy my time include reading, crocheting, photography, playing tennis, and I'm currently starting a blog. 2010s teen dramas have a chokehold on me and I'm currently watching The Vampire Diaries. On campus, I'm involved with Sartorial Magazine and The Standard. Most of my writing involves dissecting the complex nuances of pop culture through a semi-existentialist lens. In the future, I hope to live out my Devil Wears Prada dreams in The Big Apple and work at a fashion magazine! I hope to see you in the Writing Center and look forward to strengthening your writing!

Amanda

Amanda

Hello, my name is Amanda Parrack! I am a creative writing major with a minor in Spanish. I love learning languages such as Spanish and French, and my main focus in creative writing is poetry. I am apart of Moon City Review, and Sigma Tau Delta. Some of my favorite poets are Savannah Brown, Rudy Fransisco, and Richard Siken. I also really love reading Toni Morrison, and John Green. I am also a music compositional nerd who loves music theory and playing all sorts of instruments such as the saxophone and the piano. I am really into nature, and I love going out on long walks in national parks. I am really passionate about the English language, and the ways we can reach other people, with our words becoming our greatest weapon. I am excited to help strength your writing skills!

Belle

Belle

Hello! My name is Belle, and I am a junior at Missouri State University. I am majoring in English-Creative Writing with a minor in Psychology (if you need more convincing on my English-major-ness, my cats are named Harper and Truman). I am also a current member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. After graduating, I plan to pursue my MFA degree in creative writing, ultimately being able to teach at a college level. When not working in the Writing Center, I’m probably at the gym, reading a new book, or catching up on interesting true crime documentaries/podcasts. I look forward to meeting you and helping you feel more confident with your writing!

Abby

Abby

Hey there! My name is Abby, and I am a senior here at MSU! I am majoring in communication sciences and disorders, emphasizing audiology and minoring in sign language studies. After I graduate with my bachelor's degree, I plan to obtain my doctorate to become a board-certified pediatric audiologist! I am the treasurer of the archery club here on campus and a member of NSSLHA. I have also been a pharmacy technician with Walgreens for nearly four years. In my free time, I enjoy getting tattoos, collecting Funko Pops, playing with my cats, and re-watching Titanic regularly. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your writing!

Mary

Writing Consultant Mary

Hello! My name is Mary, and I am studying middle school language arts education with a minor in creative writing. My obsessions include ice cream, national parks, making new friends, learning about different cultures from international students, and raving over grammar and sentence structure. On campus, I am involved in The Standard, LOGOS, Christian Campus House, and a new organization called Operation MSU. On the writing side of things, I love coming up with my own short stories and novels, but I also enjoy writing essays and research. There’s something extremely satisfying to me about seeing ideas on a page. Seeing the sparkle in peoples’ eyes as they watch their message take shape is even more satisfying. I hope you find what you are looking for in the Writing Center!

Hope

Writing Consultant Hope

Hello! My name is Hope, and I'm a double major in Professional Writing and Philosophy. I have a particular interest in the area of ethics. Once I've completed my undergraduate degrees, I intend to seek a Master's in Bioethics. I'm very passionate about many different areas of writing. You can often find me writing poetry or brainstorming novel ideas. As my major in Philosophy might imply, I'm also a sucker for an essay regarding ethical issues in modern times. In my free time, I like to explore my artsy side by crocheting and learning to play my guitar. I look forward to working with you to improve your writing skills!

Lilian

Hello! My name is Lillian, and I am a senior studying for my BA in creative writing with a minor in journalism. I also serve as editor-in-chief of The Standard, Missouri State University's student-run news organization. I am also Secretary of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society on campus. While my specification for my major is in poetry, and I work in journalism, I love all forms of writing. I hope to share that same passion and joy for writing when we work together to strengthen your writing skills!

Casey

Casey

Hello! My name is Casey, and I am a senior majoring in Communications here at MSU with minors in film, math, and computer science. As you can tell by my job at the writing center, one of my biggest passions in life is writing. I am currently on staff at the Missouri State Standard and a freelance comic book reporter for Screen Rant. I just finished a full-time internship at Wichita’s newspaper. I love writing movie reviews, and I have spent a good amount of time copyediting in my life. I am fascinated with the written word and the nuances in its language. You can often find me getting coffee, reading a comic, trying to make those around me laugh, or watching and raving about movies (my other big passion) in my spare time. I am beyond excited to talk to you about writing and have this opportunity to read your work. I hope I can be of service!

Emily

Writing Consultant Emily

Hi, friends, my name is Emily! I am a senior majoring in literature and philosophy. I'm from Missouri City, Missouri, where most residents are cows and chickens. I currently serve as the President of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society at Missouri State University. You can probably find me working at the Box Office or reading with my cat, Louie, when I'm not in class or at the library. Whether it is an academic essay, personal statement, or creative work, I cannot wait to work with you to improve your writing skills.

Mar

Mar

Hi, my name is Mar! I’m a creative writing major and a marketing minor. I mainly write fiction and nonfiction which vary in subject from clowns to giant Styrofoam fish to dog mushing. I’m from Valdez, Alaska and I love hiking, fishing, snowmachining, and four-wheeling. My favorite movie scene of all time is the debate scene from Clueless. I’m a huge Star Wars, DC, and Yankee fan. I’m an Assistant Fiction and Nonfiction Editor at Moon City Review and the marketing coordinator for MSU’s English Honor Society. After graduation, I plan on pursuing an MFA in fiction. I’m passionate about writing and its communicative properties. I look forward to working with you to improve your writing, whether it’s creative, academic, or professional.

Juli

Hi! My name is Juliana, but you can call me Juli. I’m from Medellín, Colombia, and I’m thrilled to be a writing consultant at MSU! I’m an acting major with a minor in creative writing and a passion for stories. When I’m not busy with school, I usually read, listen to audio dramas or watch shows. I also love going out in nature and creating or listening to music. Regarding writing, my passion lies mostly in poetry, fiction, and drama, but I’d be glad to help you with any text! I can’t wait to work with you and help you grow as a writer.

Lili

Hey, I’m Lili! I’m a double major in creative writing and film & media studies with a minor in screenwriting. In the future, I’m hoping to break into the film industry. I love writing academic essays, but my passion is in creative writing, of course. Writing lets us create something bigger than ourselves. I love seeing what people can make with nothing but their imaginations! I’m involved on campus with things like The Standard, SOAR, and SGA, so if you see me, feel free to say hi! When I’m not running around campus, I’m usually crocheting, watching horror movies, reading young adult fiction (my favorite is The Perks of Being a Wallflower), or thrifting. I’m excited to help improve your writing skills!

Sophia

Hello, I’m Sophia, and I am a sophomore studying creative writing and nonprofit leadership. As far as my writing passions go, I’m already quite a few English courses deep in my major, and I work for LOGOS, so I’m excited to be able to jump in with working as a writing consultant, too. When I was in elementary school, I wrote so many little books and stories that my stapler privileges were eventually revoked. Still, I made up for that in middle school by self-publishing my short story! I’m from KC but have been everywhere, including Northern Ireland, Denmark, Africa, and Costa Rica. I’ve been so fortunate to be a traveler my whole life, and it’s one of my biggest passions–it’s helped me develop an appreciation for the unknown and made me very apt to connect with new people. Besides these things, I love Barista-ing (Oat milk caramel latte with cinnamon. Try it.), painting, A Capella, Legend of Zelda, and watching Veronica Mars.
